What is Wisdom?

Wisdom from...

Zen
Do not seek the truth, only cease to cherish your opinions.

It takes a wise man to learn from his mistakes, but an even wiser man to learn from others.

Knock on the sky and Listen to the sound.

Knock on the sky and Listen to the sound.

The ten thousand questions are one question. If you cut through the one question, then the ten thousand questions disappear.

The tighter you squeeze the less you have.

The ways to the One are as many as the lives of men.

To do a certain kind of thing, you have to be a certain kind of person.

To know that there is nothing to know, and to grieve that it is so difficult to communicate this "nothing to know" to others - this is the life of Zen, this is the deepest thing in the world.

I only know a snowflake cannot exist in a storm of fire

A weed is a plant whose virtues are only waiting to be discovered.

Women may spend their whole lives looking for true love. If you wish for true love, learn to love yourself.

China;
He who cannot agree with his enemies is controlled by them.

It takes hundreds of reincarnations to bring two persons to ride on the same boat; it takes a thousand eons to bring two persons to share the same pillow.

A spark can start a fire that burns the entire prairie.

Aboriginal;
Keep your eyes on the sun and you will not see the shadows.

Those who lost dreaming are lost

We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love... and then we return home.

A 1000 miles journey starts with a single step

Native Americans;
We do not inherit the world from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children.

Make my enemy brave and strong, so that if defeated, I will not be ashamed.

Not every sweet root give birth to sweet grass.

All plants are our brothers and sisters. They talk to us and if we listen, we can hear them.

Life is not separate from death. It only looks that way.

Yigaquu osaniyu adanvto adadoligi nigohilvi nasquv utloyasdi nihi" Cherokee - "May the Great Spirit's blessings always be with you."

Ea Nigada Qusdi Idadadvhn" Cherokee - "All my relations in creation."

A danger foreseen is half-avoided.

Our first teacher is our own heart.

All who have died are equal.

Listen or your tongue will keep you deaf.

Only when the last tree has withered, and the last fish caught, and the last river been poisoned, will we realize we cannot eat money.

You already possess everything necessary to become great

There is no death, only a change of worlds

All dreams spin out from the same web

Wisdom comes only when you stop looking for it and start living the life the Creator intended for you.

The rainbow is a sign from Him who is in all things.

Walk lightly in the spring; Mother Earth is pregnant.

Ho! Mitakuye Oyasin" - "We are all related."

Seek wisdom, not knowledge. Knowledge is of the past, Wisdom is of the future.

You cannot see the future with tears in your eyes.

Every animal knows more than you do.

White men have too many chiefs.

Sharing and giving are the ways of God.

He who would do great things should not attempt them all alone.

We are all one child spinning through Mother Sky.

"It is no longer good enough to cry peace, we must act peace, live peace and live in peace."

Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Walk beside me that we may be as one.

Earth;
"I am a Savage and do not understand any other way.
I have seen a thousand rotting buffaloes on the prairie, left by the white man who shot them from a passing train. I am a savage and do not understand how the smoking iron horse can be made more important than the buffalo that we kill only to stay alive. What is man without the beasts?
If all the beasts were gone, man would die from a great loneliness of the spirit.
For whatever happens to the beasts, happens to man. All things are connected."
"You must teach your children that the ground beneath their feet is the ashes of our grandfathers. So that they will respect the land, tell your children what the Earth is rich with the lives of our kin. Teach your children what we have taught our children, that the Earth is our mother.
Whatever befalls the Earth befalls the sons of the Earth.
If men spit on the ground, they spit upon themselves.
This we know - the Earth does not belong to men - man belongs to the Earth. This we know. All things are connected like the blood which unites one family. All things are connected."

Air;
"The air is precious to the red man, for all things share the same breath - the beast, the tree, the man, they all share same breath. the white man does not seem to notice the air he breathes. Like a man dying for many days, he is numb to the stench.
But if we sell you our land, you must remember that the air is precious to us, that the air shares its spirit with all the life its supports. The wind that gave our grandfather his first breath also receives his last sigh. And if we sell you our land, you must keep it apart and sacred, as a place where even the white man can go to taste the wind that is sweetenend by the meadow's flowers. (...) That destiny is a mystery to us, for we do not understand when the buffaloes are slaughtered, the wild horses tamed, the corners of the forest heavy with scent of many men, and view of the ripe hills blotted by talking wires. Where is the thicket?
Gone. Where is the Eagle? Gone. The end of living and the biginning of survival."

These words were spoken in a reply from Chef Seattle's to the american governement, which, in 1854, proposed that he leaves his land to the whites and promised the indian people a "reservation".

What are You looking for?

For all the people who have trouble silencing the mind, How many of you have actually tried meditation?
Yes, Letting go is very hard, and you will be able to extend your inner silence only by milliseconds each time you try, but keep at it!
But remember that Meditation should be effortless, it's no use Struggling for rest, it completely contra the goal:D
There is No Stress in the Present, think about that!
Stress in only in the Future & in the past, I should have done this, or i must still do that...Leave it!
Be HERE in the present. There's no need to be angry, or sad, RIGHT NOW.
You might have had your reasons a moment ago, and yes one will probably be pissed off again in the near future, there's enough of that going around, so don't worry!
Does any of this make any sense at all to you?
It requires some work, maybe a lifetime, maybe a few life times.
One must train the mind just like one needs to train his body for sports,
Right now I could never run a marathon, but if a start working at it really hard, maybe i could in a year or so...
A little seed of knowledge that helped me allot lately is this one by Ghandi;
"Silence isn't the absence of any sound, it's not being distracted by the noise."
So there you go.

The key to it all is in the Breath...think about this...
This is also handy for keeping ones emotional reactions in check. Just think, when you are crying, how are you breathing? Very irregularly right?
Or when you are angry? Very short sharp breaths right?
This clouds your mind and judgment and causes us to do all the stupid things we do in these situations.
Take a deep breath, it sounds so simple and it is really!
The Air is more then just oxygen, way more!
The Air = consciousness!
Think about it, if you go without air for more then 4 minutes, what do you lose...? Consciousness right?:)

I hope this helps some...
Brightest Blessings

Kookaburra's Song of the Sun

The Kookaburra has been one of my favorite animals for a long time, i just find them so beautiful, and cheerful, friendly. I just love that laughing sound they make. And since i've been pretty depressed lately i think a lot of them. anyway, i just wanted to share this or something i don't know,

Hope you enjoy,
Peace

Here you can listen to a sample!;

A long time ago before man came, the ancient birds and animals had only the light of the stars and moon.
Dinewan the Emo and Brolga the Native Companion spent the time fighting like most animals in this eerie gloom.
Dinewan flung Brolga on his back and started clawing the smaller bird with his sharp talons.
Wriggling free, Brolga ran away and taking an egg from Dinewan's nest, threw it high into the air.
Instead of falling back to the ground, the emo egg kept going,
drawn up by the sky spirits who smashed the egg over some burning embers.
The yellow yoke spread over the burning embers to become a big fiery ball throwing light and warmth on all the valleys and places where the animals lived.
The sky spirits were pleased with the beauty of the world and the rainbow colors over streaming new forests, and they agreed to light such a fire every day.
But they were surprised to find that the animals slept in.
"We will light a morning star," said the sky spirits, "to wake the animals to let them know the fire is being lit."
but still the lazy animals slept in.
"Light is not enough, for they have their eyes closed. We need a sound, But who will make the right sounds?"
Just then they heard "koo-gour-gagaga!" far below. They flew down to see a kookaburra singing merrily on the bough of a tree.
"Koo-gour-gaga, could you wake everybody when the evening star pales?" Otherwise we won't light the big fire every morning."
"Of course i will," said Koo-gour-gaga, "I like the sound of my own voice!" And he let an ear piercing shriek of laughter ring out over the forest. "Koo-gour-gaga-gaga!"
To this day, the sun fire is kindled at dawn, reaches it's blazing height at midday, dwindles to an ember and is kept aglow wrapped in a fleecy cloud by the sky spirits, to be set alight again by the heralding laughter of " "Koo-gour-gaga-gaga."
